Minor eruption observed at Taal Volcano's main crater — PHIVOLCS

A minor phreatomagmatic eruption was observed at the main crater of Taal Volcano early Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The eruption occurred at 1:02 a.m. and was captured by a thermal camera.

"This event generated plumes that rose 900 meters above the crater as recorded by the Daang Kastila Observation Station (VTDK) and Main Crater Observation Station (VTMC) thermal cameras," PHIVOLCS said in a statement.

The agency added that Alert Level 1 prevails over Taal Volcano. — BAP, GMA News
