3 reported dead in Soccsksargen after magnitude 7.8 earthquake —PNP

At least three people were reported dead and four others were injured in Soccsksargen following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

In its 10:50 a.m. report, Police Regional Office 12 (PRO 12) said all three fatalities and four injuries were civilians.

The police also recorded damage to 20 structures across the region. Among the affected facilities were 14 commercial establishments, two schools, two hospitals, and two residential houses.

Authorities reported that 26 areas experienced power disruptions, while one area was affected by a landslide.

A total of 500 police personnel and 23 vehicles were deployed across the region to assist in response operations.

Of the deployed personnel, 390 were assigned to search, rescue, and retrieval operations, while 100 were tasked with securing vital installations. Also, 150 were on standby and 10 were from the Women and Children Protection Center. —AOL, GMA News
