Man hacked by father, son over land dispute in Rodriguez, Rizal
A man was seriously injured after grappling for control of a machete with two men in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal.
According to a report by Jonathan Andal on "Saksi" Tuesday, the altercation allegedly stemmed from a land dispute between the victim and the suspects, who are believed to be a father and son.
According to a witness, they were startled when the three men suddenly started running as the suspects chased and hacked the victim.
"Nakita ko po may humabol na tumakbo rin pong may dala-dalang itak, tapos ginawa po ng anak sa nataga is nagsuntukan po sila,” witness Marilyn Seco said.
“'Yung tinaga, natumba, doon po pinagtataga ng matanda, 'yung tatay po, noong unang tumakbo,” she added.
(I saw someone chasing [the victim] while carrying a machete, and then what the son of the hacking victim did was engage in a fistfight with them. The one who was hacked fell, and that’s when the older man—the father who first ran—repeatedly hacked him.)
Seco administered first aid to the victim while waiting for an ambulance. She added that she also panicked because the victim’s blood was gushing.
According to the police, the victim was at the disputed lot when the suspects approached him.
The suspects, aged 65 and 31, have already been arrested and will face charges of frustrated homicide.
They refused to give a statement on the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim has been discharged from the hospital and is now in stable condition. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/LDF, GMA News
