Minor phreatomagmatic eruptions monitored at Taal Volcano - PHIVOLCS
Minor phreatomagmatic eruptions were logged at Taal Volcano on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said on Tuesday afternoon.
The latest was recorded at 2:34 p.m. and lasted four and a half minutes based on seismic, infrasound, and visual observations, said PHIVOLCS.
“The event consisted of three pulses that produced jets of dark gray ash and steam plumes that rose 1,200 meters above the crater before drifting to the southwest,” state seismologists said.
A similar event was also monitored at the volcano’s main crater earlier in the day, between 7:13 a.m. and 7:17: a.m. The events generated plumes that rose 450 meters above, the PHIVOLCS said in an earlier advisory.
