NSO birth certificate needed to enroll 1st-graders - DepEd
DAVAO CITY, Philippines â The Department of Education (DepEd) in Southern Mindanao said first graders needed to submit a National Statistics Office (NSO)-certified birth certificate upon enrollment to maintain the accuracy of records. DepEd Southern Mindanao Director Susanna Estigoy said: "There are a number of students who come back to us to have their records changed kasi mali yung spelling ng pangalan, or other mistakes." She added they want to avoid problems in the future. According to Estigoy, a number of graduates from public schools usually return to DepEd to have mistakes in their transcript of records like misspelled names corrected. "They use these records for board and licensure exams, or for their travel abroad," Estigoy said. The "no collection" policy of the Department of Education is still imposed on all public elementary and secondary schools. Estigoy warned any school official against collecting fees. "No fees are to be collected," Estigoy said. The DepEd Southern Mindanao director added that for complaints and inquiries, parents and students may call 227-9342. â Sun.Star Davao
