Lava effusion with collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents was observed on Mayon Volcano late Wednesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The lava flow was observed at 9:16 p.m. on July 1, 2026.

"Effusive eruption of Mayon Volcano continues for its 178th consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), locally known as "uson," and rockfalls," PHIVOLCS said.

Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano, and entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited. — BAP, GMA News
