Silliman University receives security threat
Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental confirms receiving a security threat on Monday, July 6, 2026.
In a statement, the university said it has activated safety and security protocols in coordination with the police.
"Members of the University community are requested to remain calm and strictly follow the instructions of security personnel and University officials. Please avoid spreading unverified information and rely only on official University communication channels for updates," the school said.
In a post on its Facebook account, the student government urged people in campus to leave the school premises.
The threat was reportedly sent to an email and circulated on message groups.
The threat against Silliman came after security threats were made against schools in neighboring Cebu. —GMA Regional TV News
