WALANG PASOK: Silliman University declares no face-to-face classes July 7, 2026

Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental and the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental announced that classes will be held online on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, school authorities announced.

Silliman University officials also said that campus security - in coordination with authorities - "continues to conduct security inspections of campus premises to ensure the safety and well-being of the University community."

"Classes at all levels shall be conducted online, either synchronously or asynchronously, at the discretion of the respective instructors. Students are advised to monitor their official university email and learning management system for instructions from their teachers," it added.

University officials confirmed receiving a security threat on Monday, July 6, 2026.

The threat was reportedly sent to an email and circulated on message groups.

The University of St. La Salle, meanwhile, announced that classes from July 6 to 8 will shift to synchronous online via Zoom as a precautionary response to a concern brought to the attention of the University Administration.

"At this time, there is no confirmed information that warrants undue alarm. As a precaution, synchronous online classes will continue through July 8 while the necessary assessments are completed," the University said in a statement.

"Admissions and enrollment, office transactions, and other essential University services will continue as scheduled, with enhanced security measures remaining in place on campus." — BAP, GMA News
