Kanlaon Volcano had 'moderately explosive' eruption on Thursday

Kanlaon Volcano had a 'moderately explosive' eruption on Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The volcanic activity was reported at around 7 a.m. and ended at 7:36 a.m.

Alert Level 2, indicating a moderate level of unrest, remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano.

PHIVOLCS elevated Kanlaon's status to Alert Level 2 on June 3.

On Saturday, PHIVOLCS released time-lapse video footage of Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island emitting ash anew, a stark reminder of its continued restive activity. —VAL, GMA News
