The recommendation for minor sea-level disturbances for the strong earthquake that occurred on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 has been cancelled, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

A Tsunami information for Minor sea-level disturbance issued by PHIVOLCS on July 15, 2026 at 12:10 a.m. for Sarangani, Davao Occidental and General Santos City after a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit the coast off Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

"Based on data from our sea-level monitoring stations, no unusual sea-level changes were observed during the three-hour extended observation period, and no reports of unusual sea-level changes were received," the PHIVOLCS said.

"Therefore, DOST-PHIVOLCS has now cancelled the recommendations issued for this event," the agency added. — BAP, GMA News
