Reported death toll due to Inday, Habagat at 26 —OCD

The reported death toll following the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclone Inday has climbed to 26, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported Wednesday.

In its latest update as of 6 a.m., the OCD said the following deaths were either due to drowning or landslide: one in Iloilo, two each in Zamboanga Sibugay and Bukidnon, four in Davao Occidental, seven in Lanao Del Sur and 10 in Sarangani.

Meanwhile, nine were reported injured due to landslides: one each in Marinduque, Davao Occidental and Sarangani, and two each in Benguet, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao Del Norte.

According to the OCD, 14 were missing: one in Maguindanao Del Sur, two each in Zamboanga Del Sur and Sarangani, four in Lanao Del Sur and five in Davao Occidental.

“Validation of the reported casualties is still ongoing,” the OCD said.

About 244,000 families, or one million individuals, had been affected, the agency added.

Further, about 5,000 displaced families of 22,000 individuals remain in 86 evacuation centers all over the country.

The OCD also reported 766 totally damaged houses and 853 partially damaged houses.

Damage to infrastructure amounted to P4.18 million and P12.50 million in agriculture.

About P73.06 million worth of assistance was provided to affected families. —VAL, GMA News
