Alleged school bullying in Olongapo City caught on camera
A case of alleged bullying was caught on camera in a school in Olongapo City.
According to Vonne Aquino's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, the viral video shows a student being hit by another classmate. Other students try to intervene, but he continues his attack.
The attacker also took a chair and threw it at the victim, who reportedly did not fight back.
The viral incident happened in Columban College, but the school refused to give an interview.
In a statement, however, the school said "the matter is already subject of an ongoing process and investigation which commenced on the same day of the incident."
"...the College has taken notice of the video circulating on social media regarding an alleged bullying incident," it added.
The school added that the victim was promptly provided with medical assistance and it offered free psychological assistance intervention to his parent.
"The alleged perpetrators and their parents were already called, and initial discussions were made by the Class Adviser, the Strand Coordinator, the Assistant School Principal, and the School Principal with the parties involved," Columban College added.
The school maintained that it prohibits any form of bullying.
GMA News is still finding out whether the students involved are in high school or in college. Comments from the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education were also sought. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA News
