After more than a year in hiding, police arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a construction worker following a billiards game in Silang, Cavite.

According to a "24 Oras" report, the shooting took place in February 2025 at the construction site where both the suspect and the victim were working.

The argument started after a billiards game, the report added.

Footage from the 2025 scene showed the suspect yelling at the victim and telling him to leave. The suspect left and returned with a gun.

The succeeding scenes were not captured on video, but the report said the suspect shot the victim and fled.

After more than a year of searching, Cavite police said they developed a lead that led to the suspect's arrest.

Barangay officials informed the police that the suspect had returned to his wife after hiding for more than a year, said Silang’s Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Macatangay.

The suspect had been sleeping in the living room of his home when the arrest was made.

According to Macatangay, the suspect said he shot the victim because the latter was teasing him. The suspect said he regretted the incident.

Macatangay said the case is considered closed with the capture of the suspect. —Jean Mangaluz/LDF, GMA News
