Magnitude 5 earthquake strikes offshore Davao Occidental

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake occurred at 10:42 a.m, PHIVOLCS said.

Its epicenter was located east of Balut Island at a depth of 10 km.

Intensity I was recorded on instruments as felt in General Santos City, in T'boli and Tupi in South Cotabato, and in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.

PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was an aftershock of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Sarangani Province last June 8 and magnitude 6.5 earthquake offshore Davao Occidental on June 26. —KG, GMA News
