Rockslide kills 2 near Wawa Dam amid continuous rains in Rodriguez, Rizal
At least two people were killed in a rockslide near Wawa Dam in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Wednesday.
According to a report on "24 Oras," a large rock fell in a residential area in Barangay San Rafael.
Local Montalban authorities have warned residents that the risk of landslides is high due to the continuous rains.
Residents in the area have already been previously told to leave the danger zone.
Several areas across the country have experienced widespread flooding and landslides due to the continuous rains caused by different weather systems.
In a report from Tina Panganiban-Perez on 24 Oras, there was also a landslide at the Pinukpuk-Balbalan Road in Kalinga, which also caused an electric post to fall. The local Department of Public Works office has conducted clearing operations in the area.
Landslides were also reported in Kabugao, Apayao, as well as Suyo, Ilocos Sur.
Flooding was reported in several areas in Nueva Ecija due to the effects of former cyclone Luis. Tropical Storm Maymay also triggered floods in Zambales, forcing 170 citizens to evacuate.
Maymay is expected to trigger heavy rains in northern Luzon. PAGASA has warned the public of possible landslides in the affected areas.
