Butuan Airport suspends landing, takeoff operations due to disabled aircraft

Landing and takeoff operations at Butuan Airport were temporarily suspended on Sunday, August 9, after an aircraft became disabled on the runway, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.

In a social media update, CAAP said the incident resulted in the cancellation of the following flights:

CEBU PACIFIC

  • 5J 786: Butuan–Manila
  • 5J 794: Butuan–Manila
  • 5J 792: Butuan–Manila
  • 5J 788: Butuan–Manila
  • 5J 790: Butuan–Manila

CEBGO

  • DG 6930: Butuan–Cebu
  • DG 6926: Butuan–Cebu
  • DG 6924: Butuan–Cebu

PHILIPPINE AIRLINES

  • PR 2334: Butuan–Cebu
  • PR 2942: Butuan–Manila
  • PR 2939: Butuan–Manila

Affected passengers were offered options by their respective airlines, including rebooking, refunds, or travel credits, according to CAAP.

“CAAP continues to closely monitor weather developments and airport operations in coordination with government agencies and airline operators, reiterating that the safety of passengers remains its top priority,” the agency said. — MCG, GMA News
