5 rescued from Baguio City landslide; at least 7 others missing — LGU

Five individuals have been rescued following a landslide in Guidag-Surong, Baguio City, as of 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026 the Baguio City Public Information Office said in a social media post.

Authorities reported the landslide occurred at around 7 p.m. amid continuous heavy rains.

Citing information from the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), the city information office said at least seven individuals remain missing after the landslide hit three houses, affecting five families.

According to the post, the first house had seven occupants, the second had two, and the third had three residents.

As of 8:59 p.m., local authorities confirmed that four individuals—two females (one adult, one child) and two adult males—had been rescued and rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.

According to Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Baguio City Fire Station, Baguio City Police Office, and barangay first responders have been deployed to the site for ongoing search and rescue operations. — BAP, GMA News
