Cebu gov't receives P265-M SARO for social development

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto has turned over a P265-million Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) to the Cebu provincial government to enhance local development.

According to the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES), the allocation, which came from the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), was handed over to Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro on Thursday, August 13.

The funding seeks to target “critical provincial projects in energy, healthcare, and farm-to-market road initiatives, marking a pivotal step in the national government's commitment to bolster local communities.”

“Local and national governments are united, and we will work together so our countrymen here in Cebu will benefit,” Recto said in a statement.

The Executive Secretary also reaffirmed the administration's commitment that "every Cebuano will benefit, and every Filipino will prosper.”

Aside from the Cebu provincial government, the OES said that the local government of Cordova, Cebu also received P20 million for their infrastructure projects funded through the LGSF.

A total of P54.8 million worth of socio-civic project funds were likewise distributed to nine local government units in the province, namely: Alcoy, Aloguinsan, Balamban, Daanbantayan, Danao, Medellin, Toledo, Pinamungajan, and Sogod.—AOL, GMA News
