Ateneo de Zamboanga suspends classes anew on Aug. 20 after school shooting
Classes at all levels in Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) will remain suspended on Thursday, August 20, following the shooting incident that left two people dead.
In a memorandum dated August 19, Ateneo de Zamboanga said the continued suspension would give the university community “sufficient time” to attend to the safety and well-being of its students and personnel.
The university said it is still coordinating with law enforcement and other appropriate authorities following the incident.
“Further advisories will be issued as verified information becomes available and as circumstances warrant,” the memorandum read.
AdZU President Fr. Ernald M. Andal signed the latest memorandum.
AdZU also appealed to students, personnel and the public to remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information or sensitive images, and respect the privacy of those affected.
The shooting on Tuesday left two students dead, including the alleged shooter, while another student was injured.
