Kanlaon Volcano emits ash
Kanlaon Volcano emitted ash early Thursday morning, producing a grayish plume that rose about 200 meters above the summit crater, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
PHIVOLCS said the ash emission occurred around 5:24 a.m.
“The event generated a grayish plume that rose 200 meters above the summit crater before creeping downslope towards east, as visually recorded by the Nature's View Observation Station (VKNV) in Sitio Old Fabrica, La Castellana,” PHIVOLCS said.
Alert Level 2 is maintained over Kanlaon Volcano, which means an "increased unrest."
Under Alert Level 2, entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and the flying of any aircraft close to the volcano are prohibited. Sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions may occur. —VAL, GMA News
