Bulacan under state of calamity due to effects of Habagat
The provincial government of Bulacan has declared a state of calamity due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat.
The declaration will help expedite the delivery of assistance to affected residents, the provincial government said.
(The objective of the declaration is to expedite the Bulacan Provincial Government’s response to the needs of affected Bulakenyos, including the provision of relief assistance, food and non-food items, medical services, and measures for the rehabilitation and swift recovery of communities.)
A state of calamity was also recommended in Bataan due to the effects of Habagat, with more than 4,000 residents seeking shelter in evacuation centers.
Monsoon rains may still prevail next week, but they are not expected to be as intense as in recent days, according to PAGASA. —VBL, GMA News
