Lanao del Sur vice mayor arrested for murder, frustrated murder — PNP

The police have arrested Marantao, Lanao del Sur Vice Mayor Ali Eskandar Unte Alonto III over murder and frustrated murder cases following an operation in Iligan City.

In a statement on Saturday, the PNP said the 36-year-old Alonto, alias Bimmy Alonto, was placed under police custody during an operation conducted by intelligence personnel and the Lanao del Sur police at about 8:45 a.m. on Friday.

The operation was conducted at an inn in Barangay San Miguel in Iligan City after police intelligence units and tracker teams confirmed the presence of the government official in the area.

Alonto is the subject of an arrest warrant for a case of murder with no bail recommended, and a separate case of frustrated murder with P200,000 bail. It was issued by the Regional Trial Court-Branch 44 in Initao, Misamis Oriental.

According to the PNP, Alonto then became the most wanted individual in the Marantao Municipal Level, Top 3 in Lanao del Sur Provincial Level, and Top 4 in Regional List of Wanted Persons of Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao.
