Former president Joseph Estrada is among the most prolific political patriarchs.

At least eight candidates are directly related to him, even as the 75-year-old is trying to fend off obsolescence by running for mayor of Manila. One of his sons, San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito, is vying to join his half brother Jinggoy Estrada in the Senate.

JV is running for the highest post among the Estrada/Ejercito clan. His brother Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada is already a senator, whose term will expire in 2016.

Erap is running for the mayoral post in the city of Manila while his other relatives are running for other local posts in Quezon, Laguna, and San Juan.

Incidentally, JV's mother, Guia Gomez, is seeking re-election as San Juan mayor.
