INFOGRAPHIC: Senators’ lead defense lawyers in ‘pork’ scam trials

The legal battle on the alleged pork barrel scam has begun, and the three senators facing plunder and graft cases in connection with the anomaly have tapped eminent lawyers to help them secure acquittals.

Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Jinggoy Estrada hired two veteran legal eagles to lead their respective defense teams: Estelito Mendoza and Jose Flaminiano. Both lawyers previously defended former Presidents Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in cases also involving allegations of government fund misuse.

Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. meanwhile sought the legal advice of a relatively younger lawyer. Joel Bodegon once served as defense lawyer during Chief Justice Renato Corona's impeachment trial, where the senator acted as judge.
