21 takeaways from the SC’s rulings on the Marcoses’ stolen wealth
The Supreme Court of the Philippines ruled against the late, deposed dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his family three times:
- in 2003, when it forfeited to the government $658 million the Marcoses stashed away in Swiss deposits;
- in 2012, when it forfeited to the government nearly $3.4 million the Marcoses stashed away in dummy company Arelma; and
- and in January this year, when it forfeited to the government the Malacañang Collection, a cache of jewelry appraised at $110,000 at least and taken from the Palace when the Marcoses fled to Hawaii.
