DOLE: Work permit 'di na kailangan sa kabataang manggagawa edad 15-18

MANILA – Hindi na kailangang ikuha ng certification o working permit ang mga kabataang nagtatrabaho na may edad 15 hanggang 18, ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Ito ang opinaliwanag ni Labor Undersecretary Arturo Sodusta kaugnay sa mga natanggap na katanungan ng ahensya tungkol sa pagkuha ng work certificates, permits at iba pang usapin sa pag-empleyo ng mga kabataan. “The issuance of a DOLE certificate to youth aged 15 to below 18 years prior to employment is not required by law," ayon kay Sodusta. Ginamit batayan ni Sodusta ang nakatakda sa Labor Code of the Philippines and Republic Act 9231 (An Act Providing for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Affording Special Protection for the Working Child, Amending for this purpose R.A. 7610, as amended) and consistent with Department Order No. 65-04 (Rules and Regulations Implementing R.A. 9231 Amending R.A. No. 7610, as amended). "Employment of young persons 15 to below 18 years of age may be allowed subject to the conditions and prohibitions in R. A. 9231 and the Labor Code," paliwanag niya. Ang ipinagbabawal, ayon kay Sodusta ay kung pinagta-trabaho ang mga kabataang manggagawa ng mahigit walong oras bawat araw, o mahigit 40-oras sa isang linggo, at pagtrabahuhin ito sa gabi. “The law states that no child 15 years of age but below 18 shall be allowed to work between ten o’clock in the evening and six o’clock in the morning of the following day," ani Sodusta. Bukod sa mga nabanggit na sitwasyon, sinabi ni Sodusta na ipinagbabawal din sa batas ang pag-empleyo sa mga kabataang manggagawa sa mga produktong ipinagbabawal sa mga kabataan tulad ng alak, sigarilyo, sugalan at iba pang negosyo na naghihikayat ng karahanan at kalaswaan. “Where young persons 15 to below 18 years of age is employed, the employer shall provide him or her with access to at least elementary or secondary education, including alternative learning systems," idinagdag ni Sodusta. - GMANews.TV
