"Petron alone accounted for about P123.22 million in daily profiteering on diesel, kerosene and gasoline products based on its current market share of 38.9 percent," ayon sa grupo. "This also makes the discount scheme and other palliative measures of Arroyo and the oil firms a sham. They want to make it appear that they are helping the public cope with high fuel prices but at the same time, they dupe the people by imposing exorbitant prices and onerous taxes," ayon kay Renato Reyes secretary general ng Bayan. "The Arroyo administration's appeal to the oil companies to implement more price rollbacks in the coming weeks is lip service because government continues to benefit from high oil prices and overpriced petroleum products through the VAT. As such, it will never be the genuine intention of government to curb price abuses and substantially bring down oil prices," ani Reyes. "What is even more ridiculous is that Arroyo thanks big oil companies for future rollbacks even if all their previous rollbacks were grossly inadequate," idinagdag niya. - GMANews.TV
