Gonzalez hinamon na kasuhan ang 5 anti-Arroyo bishops

MANILA – Hinamon ng isang senador nitong Huwebes si Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez na kasuhan sa korte ang limang lider ng Simbahang Katoliko na nananawagan sa publiko na kumilos upang magkaroon ng bagong gobyerno. Ang hamon ay ginawa ni Sen. Francis Escudero matapos ipahayag ni Gonzalez na maituturing sedisyon o paglaban sa gobyerno ang pahayag ng limang Obispo sa pangunguna ni Jaro, Iloilo archbishop Angel Lagdameo, presidente ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. “I return the challenge to Secretary Gonzalez to automatically file proper charges against these bishops if he finds their act illegal. Verbal threats are no act of a self-respecting and thinking individual or agency," pahayag ng senador. Inakusahan ni Escudero ang gobyerno ng “wantonly chasing individuals it deems critical to them by filing charges against the critics." Tinuligsa nitong Martes ng mga Obispo ang umano’y talamak na katiwalian sa gobyerno ni Pangulong Gloria Arroyo at iginiit na panahon na upang magkaroon ng pagbabago. Ayon kay Gonzalez, dahil sa pahayag ng mga Obispo ay wala na silang ipinagkaiba sa mga pulitiko kaya hinikayat na lamang nito ang mga lider ng simbahan na tumakbo sa 2010 elections. “The bishops just exercised their rights to freely express their opinion. Thus threatening them with charges of sedition and challenging them to run in the election from no less than the justice secretary is yet again a show of arrogance from this administration," hirit ni Escudero Sa kabila ng pagbatikos ng mga kaalyado ng administrasyon sa pahayag ng mga Obispo, nagpahayag naman ng pagsuporta ang civic group na Solidarity Philippines sa panawagan na pagbabago sa gobyerno. “No matter how seemingly belated the articulation made by 5 bishops for radical changes in our social and political system… an overwhelming judgment stands ostensibly clear – the common good and the promotion of social justice among all Filipinos and within the entire Filipino nation will not be advanced and benchmarked under the present dispensation," ayon sa pahayag ng grupo. – GMANews.TV
