Simbahang Katoliko may pananagutan din sa korupsyon at human rights violation - solon

MANILA – Hindi lang gobyerno ang dapat sisihin kung lumubha ang katiwalian at paglabag sa karapatang pantao sa bansa, ayon sa isang kongresista. Sa pahayag nitong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Isabela Rep. Rodolfo “Rodito" Albano III na may pananagutan din ang Simbahang Katoliko sa nabanggit na problema. “We were the only Catholic country in Asia for 400 years. Please ask the bishops why we are the most corrupt nation. That should answer everything," pagdiin niya. Una rito, sinabi ni Jaro, Iloilo Archbishop Angel Lagdameo na dapat ikahiya ang laganap na katiwalian at paglabag sa karapatang pantao sa Pilipinas. "We are ashamed, and we hope it is not completely true that our country is said to be the most corrupt in Asia and the second most corrupt in the world. This is because of human rights violations in various degrees. Does this call for a celebration?" deklara ng arsobispo. Para naman kay Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante, dapat unahin ni Lagdameo ang pagresolba sa umano’y kaso rin ng katiwalian at paglabag sa karapatang-pantao sa loob ng Simbahan bago ang pagpuna sa pamahalaan. “That should be his (Lagdameo) first concern, anyway the people he accuses of corruption and human rights abuses are also members of his church," pahayag ni Abante, isang pastor at Obispo ng Bible Believers League for Morality and Democracy. “Every nation has its own human rights violation. Our country has the history of it since time immemorial, even the US ( United States ) is not spared from that. What we must do is to be vigilant and check the abuses of the law enforcers and corruption both in government and business, even the religious has its own problem of corruption," idinagdag niya. Hinikayat naman ni Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo ang publiko na suportahan si Lagdameo sa ginawa nitong pagpuna sa pamahalaang Arroyo sa pagtaas ng kaso ng human rights violations at paglubha ng katiwalian sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang gobyerno. “Archbishop Lagdameo has aptly stated the sense of shame and embarrassment that the Arroyo government must bear and which the people must denounce and call GMA to account for," pahayag ng dating tagapagsalita ng National Democratic Front. - GMANews.TV
