'3 generations' killed in Bacolod City road accident


Three “generations" of women were killed in a predawn road accident in Bacolod City last Saturday, a Visayas news site reported Monday. According Visayan Daily Star reported the fatalities included a 27-year-old pregnant woman, her then-unborn baby, and her 65-year-old widowed mother. Killed in the accident were Sharon Alison Arroyo, 27, of Crossing Otso, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City; her mother 65-year-old Lilia Alison; and Sharon’s baby girl. Injured in the accident were Arroyo’s mother-in-law Caridad, 60, and brother-in-law Von Carlo, 21, and the taxi driver. Police investigators said the victims were aboard an AJM Hyundai Accent taxi (FWK-679) driven by Mardel Stephen Yogore, 49, of Barangay 13 in Bacolod City. The taxi figured in an accident where it was hit by a Toyota Hilux pickup driven by Teodolfo Makilan, 38. The victims were rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. Arroyo died at 1 p.m. after undergoing a caesarian operation at about 5:30 a.m. Her baby girl did not survive. Arroyo’s mother was transferred to the Pablo O. Torre Medical Center while Von Carlo and the taxi driver were released later as they sustained only minor injuries. Bystanders accosted Makilan and turned him over to police. His pickup was impounded at the Bacolod City Police Office headquarters. Makilan may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries resulting to homicide and infanticide with multiple physical injuries and damages to property. - GMANews.TV
