Querubin gusto ring makalabas ng piitan gaya ni Lim

MANILA – Nais din umano ni senatorial candidate (Ret) Marine Col. Ariel Querubin na makalabas ng piitan upang makapangampanya tulad ng kapwa niya akusado sa kasong rebelyon na si senatorial bet (Ret) General Danilo Lim. Ayon kay Martin Loon, anak ni Querubin at kumakatawan sa nakakulong na dating opisyal sa kampanya ng Nacionalista Party, dismayado ang kanyang ama dahil hindi umano ito nakatikim ng katulad na karapatang ibinigay kay Lim, kandidato ng Liberal Party. “Were just asking that the when there is similar request in the future, sana the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) could already grant those request pursuant to his rights as a candidate, and an innocent individual for the presumption of innocence for his favor, and we believe that he has the right to campaign," paliwanag ni Loon nang makapanayam sa ginawang pag-iikot ng NP sa Cavite. Tulad ni Lim, sinabi ni Loon na dapat maging parehas ang AFP at payagang makalabas ng kulungan si Querubin dahil inosente pa rin ito sa kaso hanggat wala pang pinal na desisyon ng korte. Nais umano ni Querubin na makadalo sa gaganaping homecoming ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA) sa susunod na linggo na nakatakda ring daluhan ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sa Baguio City . “Sana payagan siyang lumabas at mapangampanya, even upon special requests lang. Iyong susunod na paalam namin na makapag-attend siya ng alumni homecoming sa PMA next week, he has not attending these event for the past. I think, five years since he was in detention," ayon kay Loon. “And we are hoping that this time he will be allowed to attend the PMA homecoming next week.. Anyway there is a precedent recently, a similarly situated candidate was also allowed the similar function. So we hope that Col. Querubin will also be allowed to attend the PMA homecoming pursuant to the equal protection clause of our Constitution," idinagdag niya. Sinuportahan naman ni NP senatorial bet Adel Tamano ang pananaw ni Loon na dapat payagan ng AFP na makapangampanya ang kapwa kandidatong si Querubin. Bukod umano sa karapatan nito ang naturang pribelihiyo alinsunod sa probisyong Saligang Batas, hindi umano flight risk ang dating sundalo. “Col. Querubin is not a flight risk. It’s his constitutional and democratic right to campaign. Why can’t he exercise those rights?," ayon kay Tamano. “Let’s not deprive Col. Querubin of the chance to let the people know what he aims to do for the development of this country." - GMANews.TV
