Norway is not hiring Filipino nurses - POEA
Norway is not hiring professional nurses at this time, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration said yesterday to warn Filipinos against falling prey to promises of nursing jobs by some unscrupulous recruiters. The POEA said the Philippine embassy in Stockholm, Sweden reported that there is no demand for professional nurses at present, foreign or local, in Norway. Professional Management AS, a company registered in Oslo, Norway tried to secure accreditation with Reliable Recruitment Corporation, a Philippine-licensed agency, for the supposed recruitment and supply of Filipino nurses. The POEA denied the request for accreditation upon receiving the embassy report. It is therefore asking the public to report any person or agency recruiting nurses to work in Norway. Director Per Haugum of the Norwegian Registration Authority for Health Personnel, in his reply to the Philippine embassyâs request for verification, said he was not aware of any demand for nurses in Norway. "I do not know of any acute need of nurses in Norway these days, so what is this, is not easy to tell you," the POEA quoted Haugum as saying. The POEA indicated that the Norwegian government had reservations on the credentials of the recruiting agency. The Norwegian official likewise informed POEA that Professional Staffing Management AS is just a small company owned by an individual. It listed a certain Trygve Amundsen as the only member of the board with Rosita Rafallo Sabido, a Filipino living in Canada, as a substitute board. The company, put up on October 24, 2006 and registered on November 4 of the same year, has its address at the residence of Amundsen. - GMANews.TV
