Dagdag-benepisyo para sa pamilya ng mga sundalo, ipinanukala

Bilang pagkilala sa mahalagang papel ng militar sa pagbibigay proteksiyon sa bansa, inihain sa Senado ang panukalang-batas na nagsusulong na dagdagan ang benepisyo sa edukasyon, pangkalusugan at pabahay para sa pamilya mga sundalo.

Sa ilalim ng Senate Bill No. 261 o ang Military Dependent's Benefits Act, makatatanggap ang dependents ng military personnel ng tulong edukasyon sa halagang P6,000 kada taon sa loob ng apat hanggang limang taon para sa mga estudyante sa kolehiyo.

Ang mga vocational students naman ay tatanggap ng P4,000 kada taon sa loob ng dalawang taon; P3,000 kada taon sa loob ng apat na taon para sa high school students; at P2,000 kada taon sa loob ng anim na taon sa elementary students.

Kasama rin sa benepisyo ng military dependents ang free hospitalization, kabilang ang  professional services, gamot at medical supplies, dispensary o outpatient, ambulance, at libreng dental services.

“Moreover, SB 261 provides that all military personnel and their dependents will be provided with the necessary housing... subject to the eligibility and priority system set by the Major Service/Unit Housing Boards of the AFP,” ayon kay Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara, awtor ng panukala.

Tinukoy nito na tatlong military officers at 16 na sundalo at pulis ang namatay sa bakbakan kalaban ang mga rebeldeng MNLF sa Zamboanga City kamakailan.

“Aside from the modernization of our armed forces, the government should also prioritize providing more benefits for the families and loved ones of our gallant soldiers.
