Pakikipagkaibigan sa ibang bansa, pinahahalagahan ng Pilipinas

Tinalakay ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nitong Miyerkules sa harap ng diplomatic corps ang kahalagahan sa pakikipagkaibigan ng Pilipinas sa ibang mga bansa.

Sa taunang New Year's Vin d'Honneur na idinaos sa Malacañang, binanggit ni Duterte sa kanyang talumpati ang pagpapatibay sa "existing friendships."

"We value partners as we strengthen existing friendships even as we pursue new ones. We believe that friends help each other and utilize constructive engagement to achieve common goals," pahayag ni Duterte.

Dinaluhan ng aabot sa 94 na diplomats at mga lider ng international orgnizations ang selebrasyon, kabilang sina US Ambassador to the Philippines  Sung Kim, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua, at Russian Ambassador Igor Khovaev.

Sinabi rin ni Duterte na dapat magtulungan ang Pilipinas at mga kaibigang mga bansa para sa katuparan ng  mga layunin ng bawat isa.

"In truth, we all share the same aspirations of peace, progress, and prosperity. In a world that recognizes our interconnectedness and respect each other’s sovereign independence, the horizons and frontiers of cooperation are virtually limitless," pahayag ni Duterte.

Ang totoo umanong pagkakaibigan ay walang ilalatag na limitasyon sa bawat isa, at patuloy umanong magsisikap ang Pilipinas na pagtibayin pa ang relasyon sa ibang mga bansa; relasyon na nakaugat sa "common objectives, shared values", at ayon na rin sa mga nakasaad sa international law.

"Let us together work to further expand the areas of mutual, beneficial collaboration," dagdag niya.

Bilang tugon ng diplomatic corps, ipinahayag ni Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, na siya ring Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, ang pasasalamat sa administrasyong Duterte sa pagpaparamdam nito sa mga diplomat na tanggap sila dito sa Pilipinas.

"Mr. President, the word 'solidarity' means much in this country and we, members of the Diplomatic Corps, feel that we were part of the Filipino people of its hospitality and its determination to face the challenges of advertising growth, adversities brought about by forces of nature or arising from events that take place," pahayag ni Archbishop Pinto.

"To you, Mr. President, to the honorable Secretary of Foreign Affairs and his collaborators, whom we thank for their valuable collaboration in the fulfillment of our mission and to all those who share with you the honor and responsibility of leading the Philippine government, the Diplomatic Corps expresses its best wishes of good health and success," dagdag niya.
