Chinese First Lady sings during visit to Juilliard in New York

Mme. Peng Liyuan, the First Lady of China and renowned Chinese folk singer with a Masters in traditional ethnic music, visited the Juilliard School in New York during the first official state visit to the US by her husband President Xi Jinping.

 

The visit comes as The Juilliard School, a world leader in performing arts education, announces it will open a new campus in China.

 

Mme. Peng Liyuan was shown original manuscripts by Beethoven and Mozart and watched performances by Juilliard students, including a traditional Chinese song.
