FBI arrests man carrying ‘walis tambo’ in US Capitol riot

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested the man that was seen carrying a native Filipino broom or walis tambo during the riot at the US Capitol in January.

According to the FBI, Kene Brian Lazo was arrested on Friday in Norfolk, Virginia.

He was charged with:

• Knowingly Entering or Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority
• Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority
• Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds or in a Capitol Building
• Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building

Lazo was allegedly among the hundreds of protestors that stormed the US Capitol on January 7 to force Congress to undo former President Donald Trump's election loss.

Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez previously said that several Filipinos took part in the riot. — DVM, GMA News
