Explosions heard in Ukrainian capital Kyiv

KYIV — Multiple explosions could be heard in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Thursday, a Reuters reporter said, after Russia launched a massive military operation.

A Ukrainian interior ministry official said that military command centers in several cities including Kyiv have been targeted by missile strikes.

Black smoke was seen rising over the Ukrainian defense ministry intelligence headquarters in central Kyiv, although the building appeared to be intact, a Reuters correspondent reported.

The smoke appeared to rise from a large fire next to the building into which uniformed people were throwing bags.

Just outside Kyiv, in the town of Brovary, authorities said at least six people had been killed by a series of missile strikes. — Reuters
