Magnitude 6.7 quake strikes Tonga; no tsunami threat to Philippines, says Phivolcs

An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 struck Tonga on Sunday, with no tsunami threat to the Philippines detected, Phivolcs said.
According to the volcano and earthquake monitor, the quake was at a depth of 246 km. "[T]here is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake," Phivolcs added.
The United States Geological Survey earlier reported it as a 6.9-magnitude quake, striking in the Neiafu region in Tonga.
There was also no tsunami danger for the US West Coast, British Columbia and Alaska, the US Tsunami Warning System said. — with a report from Reuters/BM, GMA News
