Camerlengo Cardinal Farell to preside over certification of death of Pope Francis
Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber or the caretaker of the Papal household, will preside over Pope Francis’ rite of the certification of death and the laying of the body in the coffin on Monday evening in Rome.
The rite will be held at 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae.
“The Most Eminent Dean of the College of Cardinals, the family members of the Roman Pontiff, the Director and the Vice Director of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene of the Vatican City State are therefore requested to take part in the rite, and are requested to be present in the Chapel of the Domus Sanctæ Marthæ at 19.45 The Ecclesiastics will wear their own choral habit,” the Vatican said in a statement.
Farrell announced that Pope Francis passed away at 88.
Earlier this year, Pope Francis spent several weeks at Rome's Gemelli Hospital for double pneumonia.
The Diocese of Kalookan told GMA News Online that Bishop Pablo Virgilio Cardinal David is expected to depart for Rome this week following the passing of Pope Francis. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
