Pagasa predicts more rains over rest of the country
Massive rescue and relief operations for the landslide victims in Southern Leyte might be hampered as the countryââ¬â¢s weather bureau, Pagasa, on Saturday morning reported that easterly waves aggravated by frontal system caused the continuous rains in the Southern Leyte area. Frequent rains over Southeastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao may cause flashfloods and landslides. Visayas and Mindanao will likewise experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms. Pagasa also noted a low pressure area at 930 kms east of Southern Mindanao while a frontal system across extreme Northern Luzon was also recorded As of posting time, the low pressure area spotted around 2 a.m. remains inactive. The area of extreme Northern and Eastern Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern and Eastern Luzon and Eastern Visayas with moderate to rough seas. The other parts of the country will have light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast and east and the coastal waters will be slight to moderate.-GMANEWS.TV
