Heavy rains seen across Luzon over long weekend until National Heroes' Day

Heavy rains in many parts of Luzon are expected throughout the long weekend until National Heroes' Day on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday.

According to the state weather bureau, the following rainfall forecast is expected in areas in Luzon due to the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat:

Aug. 28 to Aug. 29 afternoon

• 100 - 200 mm rainfall: Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Occidental Mindoro
• 50 - 100 mm rainfall: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga,Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Oriental Mindoro

Aug. 29 afternoon to Aug. 30 afternoon

• 100 - 200 mm rainfall: Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan
• 50 - 100 mm rainfall: Ilocos Norte, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro

Aug. 30 afternoon to Aug. 31 afternoon

• 100 - 200 mm rainfall: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, and Zambales
• 50 - 100 mm rainfall: Batanes, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro

According to PAGASA, areas forecast to receive 100 to 200 mm of rainfall are expected to experience numerous floods, especially in urbanized, low-lying, and near-river areas. Landslides are also likely in areas with moderate to high susceptibility.

Meanwhile, areas expected to receive 50 to 100 mm of rainfall may experience localized flooding and landslides.
