The trough of Typhoon Choi-Wan will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday, PAGASA said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. forecast, the state weather bureau said the trough of the typhoon will affect Mindanao, Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas and Southern Leyte.

Moderate to at times heavy rains could trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could also cause flash floods or landslides.

As of 3 a.m., Typhoon Choi-Wan was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, located 2,595 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.

It had maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 190 kph. It was moving north-northeastward at 15 kph.

PAGASA said Luzon and the Visayas will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, with coastal waters expected to be slight to moderate and wave heights of 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from the west to southwest, with coastal waters also expected to be slight to moderate.

In Metro Manila, PAGASA recorded a maximum temperature of 31.8°C at 2 p.m. Saturday and a minimum of 24.8°C at 5 a.m.

For Manila Bay, the high tide was forecast at 2:24 a.m. at 1.2 meters, while the low tide was expected at 12:35 p.m. at -0.08 meter.

The sun will rise at 5:46 a.m. and set at 5:44 p.m.— MCG, GMA News
