LPA, ITCZ to continue bringing scattered rains over PH
A low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring rains and thunderstorms to parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Sunday, PAGASA said Saturday afternoon.
As of 3 p.m., LPA 10b was located 380 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon.
It is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.
The ITCZ will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao and Palawan, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the rest of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan.
The northeasterly windflow will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes.
The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
As for other weather disturbances, Typhoon Koguma was located 2,960 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), as of 3 p.m. It had maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts of up to 215 km/h.
PAGASA is also monitoring another LPA, designated 10a, outside PAR. It was located 2,455 kilometers east of Southern Luzon as of 2 p.m. and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2.8 meters.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected over the rest of the country. Wave heights are forecast to range from 0.6 to 2.1 meters in the rest of Luzon and 0.6 to 1.8 meters in the Visayas and Mindanao.
