Rain to prevail over Visayas, Mindanao, other areas due to ITCZ

State weather bureau PAGASA on Wednesday said that Visayas, Mindanao and several other areas can expect rain due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

The ITCZ is expected to cause cloudy skies and scattered rains in Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, Quezon, and Palawan, according to PAGASA’s 4:00 pm weather bulletin.

PAGASA warned these areas of possible flash floods or landslides during heavier rain periods.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora are affected by the Northeasterly wind flow. PAGASA said that this weather condition will have no significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy skies due to localized thunderstorms.

In a separate Facebook post, PAGASA said that it also recorded a tropical depression outside of the Philippine area of responsibility.

As of 3:00 pm, the cyclone was recorded 2,175 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, with gustiness of up to 55 km/h. It is moving northwestward at 15 km/h. — BAP, GMA News
