Liwayway to bring rains over Bicol, Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga

Tropical Depression Liwayway will cause cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga on Monday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

These areas may have flash floods or landslides during times of heavy rain.

At 3 a.m., Liwayway was located at 450 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte or 325 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Liwayway is moving north northwest at a speed of 25 kph.

According to GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz, there is a low chance of Liwayway making landfall.

He added that Liwayway's path indicates it will head for eastern China.

No tropical cyclone wind signals have been raised, although there is a possibility of Liwayway gaining strength, Cruz added.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the western portion of Luzon.

Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Coastal waters in the western part of Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas and Southern Luzon will be moderate to rough, with waves ranging from 1.2 to 3.4 meters tall.

For the rest of the country, coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
