Onyok exits PAR, occasional rains to prevail over Batanes —PAGASA

Typhoon Onyok is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but occasional gusty conditions may still prevail over Batanes, according to state weather bureau PAGASA in its 11 p.m. Severe Weather Bulletin.

PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said Onyok exited PAR at 10:30 p.m. Monday was located at 515 kilometers north of Basco, Batanes.

However, the rainbands of Onyok —swirling circle of rainclouds surrounding the typhoon—will still bring occasional light to moderate rains over Batanes.

PAGASA said sea travel remains risky, especially for small seacrafts, over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions.

Onyok slightly intensified as it moves away with maximum sustained winds of up to 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

PAGASA said a generally fair weather may be expected Tuesday night as the typhoon completely dissipates. —LDF, GMA News
