Signal No. 3 still up over 7 areas as Tisoy makes 4th landfall
Typhoon Tisoy has weakened further after it made its fourth landfall in Oriental Mindoro, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.
In its 2 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the cyclone made landfall over Naujan at 12:30 p.m.
Its first landfall was over Gubat, Sorsogon at 11 p.m. Monday, followed by Burias Island, Masbate at 4 a.m. Tuesday, and Marinduque at 8:30 a.m.
PAGASA said the eye of the cyclone was last located in the vicinity of Baco, Oriental Mindoro, packing winds of up to 140 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 195 kph.
Tisoy continues to move west at 25 kph and is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning.
By Wednesday morning, the typhoon will be 335 kilometers west of Subic, Zambales.
PAGASA warned of a possible storm surge up to 3 meters in height over several coastal areas in Marinduque, Mindoro Provinces, Romblon, Cavite, and Batangas.
Sea travel has also been declared “risky” due to rough sea conditions.

Rainfall outlook
Between Tuesday morning and late afternoon, frequent to continuous heavy to intense rains will prevail over Romblon, Marinduque, Mindoro Provinces, and CALABARZON, while occasional to frequent heavy rains will persist over Metro Manila, Bicol Region and Central Luzon, and intermittent heavy rains over will be over Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and the northern portions of Negros Provinces.
Between late afternoon of Tuesday and Wednesday morning, frequent to continuous heavy (with isolated intense) rains were forecast over Mindoro Provinces, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Rizal, and Northern Quezon including Polillo Islands, while occasional heavy rains were predicted over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Marinduque, Romblon and the rest of CALABARZON, and intermittent heavy rains will be over the Calamian Islands.
PAGASA advised residents of these areas to coordinate with their local disaster management office and continue monitoring updates.
Work, classes suspended
Overnight, Tisoy battered various provinces in Luzon and Visayas. Houses were damaged, trees fell, and cellphone signals were down in some areas.
As part of safety measures, classes for Tuesday and Wednesday were canceled in areas to be affected by Tisoy. Airport authorities announced the cancellation of some flights for Tuesday and Wednesday, due to bad weather. The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), meanwhile, will suspend its operations from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Bus trips to Southern Luzon, Bicol, Samar and Biliran from Araneta Center Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City were also canceled on Tuesday.
Malacañang suspended work in government offices and classes in all levels in Metro Manila beginning Tuesday noon due to bad weather brought by Typhoon Tisoy. —Julia Mari Ornedo/KBK, GMA News
