LPA to bring scattered rainshowers, thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao

A low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Visayas and Mindanao on Saturday, PAGASA said Friday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the state weather bureau warned affected residents against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, the LPA was estimated at 110 kilometers east southeast of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, the tail-end of a cold front may bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Quezon province, Marinduque, and Romblon. Flash floods or landslides should be expected, PAGASA said.

Cloudy skies with light rains may, meanwhile, prevail over Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands due to the northeast monsoon.

The monsoon may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

According to the weather bureau, the monsoon has no significant effect on the country.

Due to expected rough to very rough sea condition, gale warnings are raised over Batanes, Babuyan, Calayan, Cagayan, Isabela, the northern and western coast of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.

PAGASA also advised fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.—AOL, GMA News
