Eastern Visayas will be cloudy with scattered rains, thunderstorms due to the Trough of Tropical Storm Ambo


Eastern Visayas on Wednesday will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the Trough of Tropical Storm Ambo, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

The weather bureau also issued a warning that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

As of 3 a.m. on Wednesday, the center of Tropical Storm Ambo [International Name: Vongfong] was estimated at 385 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 410 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

Ambo packs maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h. The Tropical Storm is moving in the north northwest direction at 15 km/h.

The wind speed forecast of eastern section of Southern Luzon and Visayas is moderate to strong and moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The wind speed for the eastern section of Mindanao is moderate moving southwestward while coastal waters is moderate.

The wind speed forecast for the rest of Luzon is light to moderate moving in the east to northeast direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate. -- BAP, GMA News
