Science City of Muñoz, Sangley Point record day’s highest heat index
PAGASA’S synoptic stations at Science City of Muñoz in Nueva Ecija and Sangley Point in Cavite City recorded the day’s highest heat index in the country on Wednesday afternoon at 48°C.
The other areas that registered high index are Ambulong in Tanauan City and Guiuan in Eastern Samar with 46°C.
A temperature of 45°C was recorded in Calapan City, Dagupan City and Tuguegarao City.

Heat index is the human discomfort index that gives the "apparent" temperature or what human perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body.
High air temperatures and high relative humidity will give high apparent temperatures or indices. Full exposure to sunshine can increase the heat index by 8°C.
PAGASA warned that a heat index ranging from 41°C to 54°C may lead to heat cramps and exhaustion. Heat stroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity.
Meanwhile, the PAGASA station at the Science Garden in Quezon City recorded a heat index of 41°C at 3 p.m.

A maximum temperature of 34.2°C was also recorded in the area. -- BAP, GMA News
